Yes, many of you have guessed from title that article is going to be on about us and about our India. May be it is more like, we and our duties for India. Well, if I’ll try to clarify this further in introduction, it will confuse me a lot. So, I’ll start writing with the initiation of the thought.
One way or the other way, all of us have felt patriotism for our country at different stages of our life. Well, we are loyal to our country, we love our country and there is no denial for this. These things are common and relates to every Indian living in India and abroad. We generally don’t express our feelings or love for our country in normal day to day conversations. May be because the other things keep us busy and rest of the time we do something for ourselves or spend time with our family. But sometimes, when some big event or accident occurs, good or bad; when we watch some patriotic movie like Gandhi, Gadar, Lagaan, Bhagatsingh etc, our patriotism gets waken up into our mind and heart. We will feel some strange passion for our country. If you are thinking what I am writing, remember the day when you saw the one day match between India and Pakistan. Exactly. Once in a blue moon, we also get such strange passion for our country, thinking, what have we done for our country or what can I do for my country? My country has given me life, education etc. etc. and now its my turn to do something for my country. Well if haven’t had such feeling in your life time, that’s fine. Let me be specific then. I’ll talk about me. Although that doesn’t mean that I am underestimating your feeling about your love for country. Not at all. But I’m becoming more specific because love and emotional expression for everybody is very different and sometimes difficult to understand.
Anyway, I used think such things one way or the other. “What I have done for my country?”. As I am now in Australia, “I am studying in Australia, may be I’ll work here or some other place in some commercial company. How that will be useful or treated as my contribution for India? “This is kind of patriotism gets focus time by time. I came across the blog of Madhav. On his blog, he mentioned his future goal that he want to work for India, utilizing the knowledge he earned etc. I am not precise about his blog, but he mentioned similar thing. Correct me Madhav, if you are reading and find it incorrect.
My understanding was like “If you want to be the part of your country’s growth or if you want to do something for your country, you need to stay in your country and think and work for it.” My point is, we need to work in our country to benefit our country. Going abroad and working on foreign land just benefits the foreign country. But if that is the case, then there are lot of Indians around the world in different countries. Many of them are there since years. Does that mean that all those Indians doesn’t benefit India. Well, this was troubling me. It can’t be true. Somehow from my mind gave me some logical arguments.
People outside India; of course earning in dollars. And that goes into their bank account. But broadly thinking, half of them are working in companies and half of them are doing business. People who are doing business, majority of them depends on many of the Indian products or people. They buy products from India. They employ people from India. People who work in companies, somehow directly or indirectly they become the reason of outsourcing of their manufacturing work to India. Both way money is flowing to India. Of course foreign country gets more benefit, but India also gets considerable benefit. We can see that these days. Also, India has diversity of skills within all people. Of course, some are best, some are good. Some people make them best to achieve their career goals. For examples, during Bachelor study, students prepare for GRE, Toefl, GATE, CAT. They go for higher studies abroad or in IIMs or IITs or some other premier universities in India. But there are students who will not go for higher studies. The reasons can be anything. But the point is at the end of studies, one merit list is generated. It will list all student ranks. Of course, students how has done well can get absorbed in industry without much hassle. But there are students who clear the course after more than one attempt. Generally they find hard to get good options after studies. But say, students who are going for higher studies generally don’t bother about that merit list and let’s say they don’t belong to that list. And other students go up in the list. This way their chances of getting good options increase. Of course, the opportunity makes them best for what they will do or they want to do.
Making an assumption that no one will go abroad and will stay and work in India to fulfill his/her duties to the nation; ultimately it may make India flooded with skills. And may be it may reduce chance of getting the outsourcing work from abroad and also affect the export business. So practically, the people who are abroad are also doing their duties for country. Everyone who so ever belongs to India, wherever he is does. I would say either intentionally or unintentionally. By unintentionally, I mean, those people who only think of them selves and of their family, who just want to earn more money either by business or by work. Those who generally ignore such thoughts. I was such person. Actually I am. Though I am loyal to India. It’s just that I have never thought about doing something for country so passionately. I am just thinking and doing things about my career and my life, my family.
Well, but ultimately if we think, India’s growth is directly proportional to the growth of each individual who belongs to India. If people stop moving ahead, India will stop moving ahead. If people keep moving ahead, struggle and push themselves ahead; India will move ahead. So, if you are a person like me who is loyal to India, but never thought about doing something for India so passionately; just try to push yourself ahead where you want to be. Make your self grow. You are making India grow.
I know I have not written this in a well organized manner. May be you may care to tell me where you find bit of distraction in this or whatever. And yes about title as well.
